Turn a Rented Room into Your Place of Sanctuary

So, you’re renting a space to sleep and eat and take a shower in. you may have moved in to a new city, probably single, with no friends to crash with. So you ended up renting a room. This may not be the best choice for you, but it’s the only plausible thing to do in your current situation. Your room right now may be a dreadful hole with nothing but drab colors and a sheetless bed, but it can be remedied. All you need are a few simple touches.

Colored walls

What’s your favorite color? You don’t need to worry about what color your guests will like. This is about owning the place you’re in right now. It doesn’t matter if you love rainbow colors or murderous colors like blood red or black—as long as you feel comfortable. You can even splash paint on your wall for all I care. But the thing is, you’re renting the place. So, you might want to use some wallpaper instead. That is, if your landlord is particular with the color of his walls.

Paintings or posters

Another thing to make your room feel like home is to put up paintings or posters that you love. If paintings are too expensive for you (even the replicas), you’re free to put up as much posters as you want. It can be posters of Coheed and Cambria, Eminem, or Christina Aguilera. It can be posters of cute puppies and a bunch of fluffy bunnies. Whatever makes the place feels a little bit like home.

Fill up space with stuff you love

Do you love collecting picture frames? Place them on the empty spaces in your apartment. You might be a book lover and have collected a good number of books. You can buy a bookshelf (one that matches your personality) and let it consume the awkward and empty space in your place. They can even be spaces or figurines. They can turn your rented space into something more like a home.
